This week we had a chat with Charlotte from Lola Stays about dogs and avocado (our two favourite things)! This busy little cafe, spitting distance from Beach Babylon featured in our previous post, should definitely be at the top of your to-do list this summer.
Almost one year old, this seaside hangout looks like it's come straight out of a Pinterest board. Paper Collective prints line the walls opposite the pale blue flamingo wallpaper (flamingos are so hot right now), with wire lampshades above the counter a subtle reminder of how close you are to the beach. The laid back coastal/boho vibes (sans blue and white stripes and marine motifs) are exactly where you want to be while you tuck into your Sunday brunch and Havana coffee.
Get the look with our Paper Collective prints, gold wire lampshade, black macrame hanging pots and flamingo-themed homewares.
The team at Lola are about as obsessed with dogs as we are and have made sure to accommodate your furry dining companions with hooks and water bowls outside, and organic, homemade treats on the counter free for the taking! Aware that some dogs have special dietary requirements and sensitive tummies, they'll run through the ingredients with you so you can be sure they’re A-OK to give to your dog (things like peanut butter).
While your dog chows down on free biscuits make sure you order their highly coveted Smashed Avo on grain toast with goat’s cheese and cherry tomatoes (dribble). The Lola crew wait all year for avocado season - it’s their staple and a firm favourite. Check out the rest of their drool worthy menu here.
What's more, they took part in this year's SPCA Cupcake Day and raised over $1000! Over 46,000 animals are abused and neglected every year. Since 2009, generous supporters have helped raise over $2.3 million to help these animals get the love and care they deserve, just by selling cupcakes! Keep an eye out for 2019's event to get involved.
With summer right around the corner they've just launched “Laylow At Lola” daily from 2pm. Perfect for a little stop off in the middle of afternoon walkies. Swing by for signature cocktails and classics (or a cheeky glass of wine), perfectly partnered with platters and nibbles. Drop them a line and they’ll save you (and your dog) a spot! hello@lolastays.com.

P.S. Please be responsible dog parent! If your dog can’t handle loud noises, busy crowds or other dogs, please refrain from bringing them with you, or test them out during a quiet period to see how they go before upgrading to full Sunday Brunch status. When taking your dog out this summer remember to be wary of the conditions - make sure they have enough water and shade, check that the footpaths aren’t too hot for them to walk on (if it’s too hot for you it’s too hot for them!), and never leave them in a hot car.
